4th Annual Theatre on the Bluff: Disney’s The Little Mermaid
Eastern Shore Repertory Theatre (ESRT) will bring the full Broadway version of Disney’s The Little Mermaid to Henry George Park in Fairhope for the fourth annual Theatre on the Bluff on May 11-13, 2017. Directed by Erin Langley with choreography by Matthew Kiel, ESRT’s production is its most ambitious to date, featuring over 80 Baldwin and Mobile County residents.
Based on the story by Hans Christian Andersen and the classic animated film, Disney's The Little Mermaid is a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages. Disney’s The Little Mermaid tells the story of Ariel, King Triton's youngest daughter, who wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric in the world above, bargaining with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends, Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull and Sebastian the crab to restore order under the sea. With music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater, and a compelling book by Doug Wright, this fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs, including "Under the Sea," "Kiss the Girl" and "Part of Your World."
Eastern Shore Repertory Theatre will present Disney’s The Little Mermaid on May 11-13, 2017 in Henry George Park on the bluff in Fairhope. All shows begin at 7:30 p.m., and gates will open at 6:30 each evening. Patrons should bring their own blanket or lawn chair, and picnics are encouraged.
